UK (HPI) Visa is A Pathway for Top Graduates
A High Potential Individual (HPI) visa gives you permission to stay in the UK if you have been awarded a qualification by an eligible university. Your partner and children can also apply to join you or stay in the UK as your ‘dependants’ if they’re eligible.

Requirements for a HPI Visa:
- You must have been awarded a qualification by an eligible university listed by the Home Office.
- You must have been awarded your qualification in the last 5 years.
- Your qualification must be at the same level as a UK bachelor’s degree or a UK postgraduate degree or a UK PhD or doctorate.
- Your degree must be from a non-UK university because UK universities are not listed as an eligible university.
- You must not have already given a Graduate visa in the past.
- You must not have already come to the UK as a Doctorate Extension Scheme student.
- You must prove you can read, speak and understand English to at least level B1 on the CEFR scale unless you are from the listed countries.
- You must have enough personal savings to support yourself in the UK unless you have been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months.
Visa duration:
An HPI visa usually lasts for 2 years. If you have a PhD or other doctoral qualification, it will last for 3 years
Settlement / Indefinite Leave to Remain:
You cannot apply for settlement or indefinite leave to remain in the UK under HPI visa.
Partner and children:
A partner and children can apply as dependants on this route if they are eligible.
